Reducing urban heat through smart storm water management

To combat urban heat, an Australian study emphasises the importance of stormwater management through a device called  TREENET Inlet by spacedownunder. It is a 60-centimeter-tall, 30-centimeter-wide input pipe lined with porous material that facilitates stormwater infiltration into the soil. Saplings fed by stormwater performed 169 percent higher during the dry months. When compared to untreated control seedlings on strips, it increased sapling development by around 60%.
