The Future Of Urban Farming: Low Carbon Vertical Farms

Solar panels to generate electricity at night

Bowery Farm has built its third urban farming facility, employing a state-of-the-art vertical farm, on a 150,000 square foot brownfield tract in Pennsylvania. Bowery creates food in close proximity to where it will be consumed as well as at the time of consumption. The LED-powered facility has a much smaller footprint. It has also reduced water use by capturing and filtering runoff and returning it to the system. The new farm will run entirely on renewable energy.
